Anand Pye is a proven leader committed to building a stronger, safer, and more connected Edmonton.

 

With a career that spans business, arts, and community development, Anand brings the experience, creativity, and collaboration needed to make our city's core neighbourhoods thrive. 

A BUSINESS LEADER

​

As former CEO of NAIOP, Edmonton's commercial real estate development association, Anand worked at the intersection of business and government to grow Edmonton's economy. He facilitated collaboration between political leaders, developers, and businesses across office, retail, housing, and industrial sectors. 

​

Using his leadership, NAIOP expanded mentorship and education programs, built western Canada's largest real estate student competition, and secured millions in federal investments to deliver housing near transit hubs.

AN ARTS & CULTURE ADVOCATE

 IN THE AETS​

Anand's lifelong passion for the arts has helped shape Edmonton's creative identity. Beginning as a young actor at the Citadel Theatre, he went on to be the Founding President of Grindstone Theatre, a cornerstone of Edmonton's independent arts scene.

​

Anand also co-founded, and is the current Executive Director of, The Edmonton Mural Festival, which transforms neighbourhoods with high-quality, accessible public art.

​

Anand believes that a vibrant arts and culture sector is essential to building an inclusive, livable city.

A COMMUNITY BUILDER

​

Deeply rooted in Edmonton's core, Anand has worked tirelessly to strengthen community life.

 

As Vice-Chair of the Downtown Recovery Coalition, he championed initiatives to improve safety, cleanliness, and amenities in the heart of the city.

​

Though the Downtown Community League, Anand helped bring "A Taste of Al Fresco" market back to 104 Street during the pandemic, and worked with other business improvement areas to revitalize through arts, business attraction, and building better spaces.

​

Anand also played a key role in establishing Edmonton's first low-income transit pass through his work on the Transit Service Advisory Board, ensuring equitable access to mobility for all residents.

Named one of Edmonton's Top 40 Under 40 (2020), Anand is recognized as an innovative leader who brings people together to solve complex challenges. His vision for Ward O-day'min is clear: create safer streets, stronger neighbourhoods, more housing options, and a flourishing local economy rooted in arts, culture, and community.
